5K Race for Recess

The Wright Denny and Page Jackson and Charles Town Middle Parent Teacher Volunteer Organizations (PTVO) are sponsoring the 6th annual 5K "RACE FOR RECESS" on Saturday, May 17th in Charles Town. The Race for Recess, which starts at 8:30 am, begins and ends at Jefferson Memorial Park. The race course winds through historic Charles Town. Proceeds from the race will be used to purchase recess equipment for both schools.

This 3.1 mile race is perfect for both runners and walkers. Create a fun, family outing while doing something healthy for the entire family!

Pre-registration begins April 1st. The cost for an individual is $20 and for a couple is $35. After May 4th, add $5 per adult. There will be race day registration from 7:30 - 8:00 am. Race day registration will be the $25 per adult. Packet pickup will take place Friday, May 16th from 3:30 - 5:00 at Wright Denny Intermediate or race day from 7:30 until 8:15 at Jefferson Memorial Park.  T-shirts will be given to all paid participants who preregister and while supplies last on race day. There will be a short fun run for very young children who do not run the 5K.

Directions:
From Leesburg- Take Rt 9 towards Charles Town. After coming down the mountain and over the river, the road will dead end into a left exit or a right exit, take the left exit onto 340 toward Berryville.  Take the first exit on right for Charles Town. (The first official exit - not the firehouse/emergency vehicles only driveway).   Left at top of the ramp. Go down the hill and make a  right on Jefferson Ave. Left on Forrest Ave. Race start at the corner of Forrest and Morison.

From Frederick-Take 340 towards Charles Town. Left on Jefferson Ave (just past track entrance). Right on Forrest Ave. Race start at corner of Forrest and Morison.
